eVLBI Network Technologies Workshop

20:00 Tue 24 Jul to 06:00 Thu 26 Jul 2007

ATNF Marsfield Lecture Theatre

The ATNF is holding an informal 1.5 day workshop on July 24 and 25 to
discuss various networking technologies that are of relevance to the
efficient transfer of data over long-haul, high bandwidth networks. The
workshop timing has been chosen to take advantage of Jerry Sobieski's
visit to Australia. Jerry is the Director of Research Initiatives for the
Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX) which is a consortium of almost 50 research
and higher education institutions in the Washington, DC region. Jerry is
one of the leaders in building and operating hybrid optical/packet
networks for the research community.

The workshop emphasis is on the application of advanced network
technologies to Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) and how the
experience gained in this field can be applied to the data transport
requirements of the Australia Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP)
instrument being constructed by CSIRO.

The ATNF will provide morning and afternoon teas and a light lunch on both
days for those who register by the close-of-business on Friday 20 July.
Please inform us if you have any special dietary requirements.

There is no cost to attend the workshop. For those unfamiliar with the
location of the ATNF, the webpage mentioned above has a link for
directions and local accommodation.

You can register for the meeting by e-mailing Chris.Phillips@csiro.au.
