Teacher Workshop, Marsfield, 4.30 - 6.30pm, 14 June, 2005

Astrophysics in the Classroom is two-hour after school workshop focusing on practical work for the NSW Stage 6 Physics syllabus; core module 8.5 The Cosmic Engine and option 9.7 Astrophysics. This is a free workshop and afternoon tea will be provided.

This workshop will provide you with practical activities and simple ideas that you can use with your physics students. Handouts will be provided.

An important aspect of the workshop is the chance for you to share your own activities and ideas with colleagues. If you have any practical task, assessment task, classroom activity or other idea related to either unit that you are willing to share, please bring it along.

There will be ample time for questions, discussion and sharing ideas.

Venue, Date and Times.

The workshop will be held at the ATNF headquarters, CSIRO Radiophysics Laboratory, corner of Vimiera and Pembroke Roads, Marsfield on Tuesday, 14 June, 2005. It starts at 4.30 pm with afternoon tea provided from 4.00 pm. The workshop will conclude by 6.30 pm. If there is sufficient interest we may run an informal evening activity such as dinner at a local restaurant afterwards.

Please note: Entry to the site is via Reception which is located near the Visitors' car park. Due to security, the front doors are locked after 5 pm so please ensure you arrive prior to then.

Resources

All workshop participants will receive handouts related to the activities. If you wish to bring an activity to share with colleagues please try and have 30 copies available to distribute on the day.
