Abstract Neutral hydrogen (HI) observations of the recently discovered Sagittarius dwarf galaxy (D = 24 kpc) have been obtained using the 22-m Mopra telescope. We derive upper limits on the HI mass in several positions in the galaxy's central region between 51 and 75 Msun. Interpolating over the extent of the stellar distribution of the galaxy gives an upper limit of about 10^4 Msun.

Key words galaxies: dwarf spheroidals --- galaxies: individual: Sagittarius dwarf
