The Galaxy NGC 5643

Bärbel Koribalski (ATNF)

The ATCA neutral hydrogen (HI) distribution, velocity field and velocity dispersion of the nearly face-on spiral galaxy NGC 5643.
The first set of four images is obtained using "natural" weighting, while the second set of four images (zoomed-in) is obtained using "robust" weighting.
The respective ATCA synthesised beams are shown in the bottom left corner of each image.






ATCA data from two arrays was used: 375-m (~10h on-source) and 1.5A (~10h on-source)
