Comments:

NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE

This is a non-standard setup including

  • USB/LSB DAS profile
  • Turn noise cal off
  • Turn DAS Gain loop off
  • Turn phasecal off if present

Disabling Noise Cal

ATCA: type “set diode off” in caobs

Mopra: In attest under “noiscl”, select “LSNoise” to off . (to confirm with Tasso)

Parkes: pkmc → “Cal Control Unit” → select current Rx on matrix and set to “off”

Disabling Noise Cal (ATNF DAS GUI)

  • Adjust external attenuation so that the IF level is approx mid band
  • Select “Details” under “Monitor View”
  • Monitor the “Level” value for IFP#1 and IFP#2 and estimate a time averaged value (Tid only needs to worry about one IFP)
  • Record the two average level values
  • Under “Config Sftw” select “Filters –> Band Spliter”
  • Set “Gain Control” to Manual for both IFP (in the lower right region under “Statistics”
  • Set the two Gain levels to 4*(255-Level) where level is the value to measured above
  • Click the “Config Hdw” button
  • On the “Details Monitor view' display check the Level is ~ 128
  • Adjust the attenuation if the level wanders away too much from 128 - each number is ~ 0.1dB.
  • Monitor VLBI sampler statistics stay around nominal 17.3%/32.7%
