Schedule Checking

Check the following:

  • Correct start/stop time
  • Polarizations/IFs match the block schedule
  • All stations on the block schedule are included
  • Standard frequency
  • First hour reserved for fringe finding (or as agreed with PI, e.g. 30min or none)
    • Fringe finders listed
  • Fringe finder observed every few hours
  • Phase reference cycle not too long
  • Sources not set at too many stations at any time (elevation)
  • Slew times not too long (very long or longer than scan)
  • Source positions given to sufficient accuracy

For ATCA

  • Scans not too short (ATCA loses 15 sec on scan change).
  • Scans aligned with 5sec boundary (for ATCA)
  • Encourage 1934-638 for flux calibration
  • Check frequency of AUTOPHASE_DETERMINE scans
  • AUTOPHASE_DETERMINE scans must have at least 1 min on 200 mJy source
  • Do not AUTOPHASE_DETERMINE during the fringe finder section

One way to check some of this is (as vlbi on ATNF unix machines):

> vexsum2.pl exper.skd
> makewiki.pl exper.skd
> less exper.sum
