Final Announcement

We look forward to seeing you soon at Narrabri for the ATNF Astronomical Imaging Synthesis Workshop 24-28 September. At registration participants will receive a package that includes the Program and other workshop literature, Local and Scientific Organising Committee contacts, information on the site and the Narrabri district, ATNF promotional material, a clipboard with pen and pad, and any other relevant items. Receipts will be issued and any outstanding payments can be made at that time. Textbooks can be paid for and collected if not already received.

There is a reception and workshop dinner at the array on the Monday and Wednesday evening. Accompanying partners and children etc are welcome to attend for a small contribution of $15 per function (however please let us know in advance for catering purposes), but may need to make their own way out to site for the evening.

In the mornings, the bus to the site leaves

Aaron Inn 7:50 am
Bellview 8:00 am
Mid-Town Inn 8:10 am
Highway Tourist Village 8:25 am

The return bus leaves the site at 9:30pm Monday (after the reception), 5:30pm on the Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00pm on Wednesday (after the dinner), and 1:30pm (for bushwalking) on the Friday.

If you haven't already done so, please let us know whether you have any special dietary requirements, eg, vegetarian or allergies.

The Tuesday afternoon involves a tour of the site. Safety rules dictate that more sturdy footwear than sandals, thongs and high-heeled shoes are needed during the antenna tour. Runners and sandshoes are fine.

There is an optional short bushwalking trip on the Friday afternoon. Please bring adequate shoes for this too.

We are accumulating the lecture material on-line (e.g. powerpoint presentations, postscript files etc).

On the Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, participants can get some hands-on experience by working on a "project" during practical sessions. You may like to review the projects before the workshop. In particular note that for the Miriad data analysis projects, you can optionally bring your own data to work on. Bring your data by CD or pre-load it if you have a Narrabri account.

Participants will shortly receive individual emails with details of accommodation booked and travel details supplied. Please check these details and reply to us as soon as possible if there are any discrepancies or changes to be made.

For people with flights booked, we've been advised that the flight times to and from Narrabri on QantasLink (formerly Eastern Australian Airlines) will be changing from the regular schedule both before and after Workshop (due to the long weekend and holiday periods). In the participant emails original dates and times will be noted against the expected new times. Please confirm your Narrabri flights with your airline and let us know of any amendments so that airport transport can be co-ordinated properly. As well, the problems with Ansett may mean that the times of Qantas flights may also be affected.

The Workshop will be supplying a coach and bus to and from the site from Monday to Thursday (from your place of accommodation) and participants are encouraged to use these, particularly on Monday and Wednesday nights when the functions are held. Please let us know if you definitely DO NOT want to use the buses from Mon-Thu and your name can be taken off the passenger list.

On Friday the Workshop finishes at lunch and the afternoon is free for the bushwalking trip or activities on site. As some groups and people are leaving early on Friday we will only supply limited buses to and from site, and these will also be used for the bushwalking. Please confirm if you are planning to use your own transport on the last day. If you plan to go on the Friday afternoon bushwalk and can let us know in advance this would be of help.

The Workshop will cater for the two functions on Monday and Wednesday evening, as well as morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas. Participants will need to look after their own breakfasts, plus dinners on the evenings when no functions are scheduled.

The weather could still be cool in late September and it would be wise to bring some warm clothing, particularly for the outdoor function on Monday night.
