ATNF SYNTHESIS IMAGING WORKSHOP - Final Announcement


REGISTRATION

Registration will take place at the Observatory between 8.30 and 9.00 am Monday 14 September.  Participants will receive their course notes and an information package at this time.  The package includes a clipboard, writing pad and pen, name tag, the Program, listings of participants and lecturers, and information on the local area of Narrabri.  Payments for Workshop expenses may also be made at the registration desk or by contacting a member of the LOC during the week.

**All participants are being asked to please pay the registration fee.


ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation details have been sent to all participants about a week before the workshop. If you have not received these details please get in touch urgently with the LOC via email to: synthesis@atnf.csiro.au

The Local Organising Committee has decided that all participants who are staying in cabin share accommodation will be subsidised by the Workshop (not including meals not covered by the Workshop, personal telephone calls, etc).  All subsidised accommodation will be paid directly by the LOC.  All other accommodation is to be paid directly to hotels or by special arrangement.


TRANSPORTATION

CSIRO BUS

A bus will be provided for taking Workshop participants between Sydney and Narrabri.

Departure to Narrabri - Sunday 13th September.
Meet at 11:30 am, bus departs at 12:00 sharp.

The bus pick-up point will be the Radiophysics Laboratory at Marsfield, Cnr Pembroke & Vimiera Roads, Marsfield (Epping). Information on how to get to the Radiophysics Laboratory at Marsfield can be found at: http://www.atnf.csiro.au/observers/visit/guide_epping.html

Return trip (Narrabri-Sydney) will be around 08:30am on Saturday 19th September depending on people's connecting flights or trips out of Sydney.

If there are any conflicts with the bus times, please let us know immediately.
 

BUSES TO SITE

Buses will be departing for the Observatory at 8.00 am on Monday morning from the Bellview and the Albany motels.  Buses will be operating each day and it would be advisable to be ready for departure between 8.00 and 8.15 am Tuesday - Friday.  This includes a return service for all participants to Narrabri following afternoon lectures and evening activities at the Observatory.

Tommos Motor Lodge, the Kaputar Motel and the Narrabri Motel & Caravan Park (Cabins) are all within a short walking distance from the Albany.

CATERING

Morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas are provided by the Workshop.  As well there is a Monday evening reception and a Wednesday evening BBQ with AT staff and families, both to be held at the Observatory.


EXTRA ACTIVITIES

Tuesday and Thursday nights

After dinner on Tuesday and Thursday nights a group of Workshop attendees will be gathering at one of the local hotels or clubs if anyone would like to come along and join in.  Venues will be announced at the Workshop.
 

Thursday night squash night

Robin Wark is arranging this activity so please see her at the beginning of the week or email beforehand (rwark@atnf.csiro.au).  Please remember to bring your squash gear, eg, shoes, suitable clothing.  Rackets can be hired but if you have one and are able to bring it along, please do. A fee will be charged for squash court hire.  Depending on interest we may be able to arrange a BBQ.  There are also rebound volley ball facilities and people are welcome to come along just for the social event.
 

Friday afternoon

  • *Observing and data reduction
  • *bushwalking in the Mt Kaputar region
  • *or horseriding (limited numbers) - CANCELLED due to floods.
Sign-up sheets for the Friday afternoon activities will be made available during the workshop.  Participants should sign-up by Wednesday afternoon of the Workshop.
