Hale Pohake (HP), on the way to Mauna Kea. This is where astronomers and support staff stay whilst working at the summit. It is at an altitude of about 10,000 feet. The flags represent the countries who operate, or are partners, iin the various telescopes on Mauna Kea. Australia is a member of the Gemini Observatory.
