The Gemini North telescope (Gemini South is located in Chile) located on the summit of Mauna Kea (which is just under 14,000 feet above sea level). It is one of many telescopes on Mauna Kea that has an 8m diameter primary mirror utilising adaptive optics to correct for aberations caused by the Earth's atmosphere.
