Camels captured (on camera) at the MRO
ADAPs have previously highlighted emus at the Murchison Radio-Astronomy Observatory, and a bungarra (or sand monitor), and another strolling past the AAVS (Aperture Array Verification System), but this image is the first time a camel has been captured on camera. Camels were imported into Australia from Afghanistan and India in the 1800s during the colonisation of inland Australia. Many were set free when motorised transport took over in the early 1900s, which resulted in a large feral population. (Image credit: Michael Reay)
