PULSE@Parkes
is an education program allowing high school students to take control
of the Parkes radio telescope and do some real science by observing
pulsars. Pulsars, the rapidly spinning remnants of stars after
supernova explosions, are studied by astronomers to test the
fundamental laws of physics.
The PULSE@Parkes team recently ran a session for groups of high
school students at the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre in Perth,
following this up with an outreach session as AstroFest a couple
of days later.
