The third ACAMAR meeting
The third ACAMAR meeting -- Australia-China Workshop on Astrophysics -- was held in Hobart this week. The picture above shows Elaine Sadler welcoming participants to the meeting. The focus of this workshop was Antarctic astronomy, low-frequency radio astronomy, ASKAP/FAST/SKA, and optical instrumentation. ACAMAR is a joint China-Australia research centre between the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Australian Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, and the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics (CAASTRO) to collaborate on areas of common interest within astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology.

ACAMAR is an acronym (by the looser definition of the word) for the Australia-ChinA consortiuM for Astrophysical Research, but is also the name for theta Eridani, a bright naked-eye star visible from both Australia and China.
