During the last commissioning run we briefly
had 16 PAF-equipped ASKAP antennas working as an array, ie. four more than in
recent ASKAP-12 observations. We decided to observe the Sun as a demonstration
of imaging with only limited hour-angle coverage. The first image was taken on
the 21th of January and revealed a solar flare. For comparison see the
Fe IX image of the Sun.
Finally, observing the Sun for 15 min each day for five days resulted in the
animation shown here.
