Mopra view of the Galactic Plane |
by Erik Muller (NAOJ) |
The above image is a 3-colour composite of the molecular gas within our
Galaxy, showing a tiny part of "The Three-mm Ultimate Mopra Milky Way Survey" (ThrUMMS). Red,
green, and blue correspond to the molecules; 12CO, 13CO,
and C18O, respectively (Barnes, Muller et al. 2015). Green or blue
are cooler and more opaque regions, while the red is warmer and more
translucent. The full-scale map produced by this survey is 5.5 m long when
printed a typical printing resolution of 75 dpi.
