ASKAP, the Australian SKA Pathfinder,
consists of 36 telescopes, which together form a powerful 6-km diameter radio
interferometer. The photo above shows the installation of the first Mk2
Phased Array Feed on one 12-m ASKAP antenna, providing 30 square degrees
field of view and good sensitivity across the 0.7 to 1.8 GHz band. ASKAP
complements the Australia Telescope Compact Array (6 x 22-m; 1 - 105 GHz)
and the 64-m Parkes telescope.
