3-D reconstruction of Jupiter's Radio Emission
High energy electrons trapped in Jupiter's radiation belts emit synchrotron radiation at radio wavelengths. Here we show the movie of a 3-D reconstruction of ATCA 20-cm Jupiter's synchrotron radiation. The angular resolution is about 0.3 Jovian radii. The ATCA data were taken by Dulk, Leblanc and Sault (1997); the 3-D reconstruction software was developed at the ATNF by Sault, Oosterloo, Dulk & Leblanc (1997). - The planet itself is shown in red while the radiation belts are shown in green.
