The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical
radio telescope (FAST), located in the Guizhou province in the southwestern
part of China will be the largest radio antenna upon the finishing of
construction. FAST is expected to receive its first light at the end of 2016.
On 29 July 2015, the first FAST early science meeting is held in Guiyang. On
28 July 2015, a group of the attendees for the meeting enjoyed a trip to the
FAST site. As can be seen from the picture, FAST has finished building the
main base and is ready to build its reflection surface in the following weeks.
