First CSIRO/SKA South Africa Undergraduate Scholars |
by Rob Hollow (CASS) |
Welcome to Tokiso Motoai and Katherine James.
They have just started a ten-week CSIRO/SKA South Africa Undergraduate
Scholarship program with CASS. They are the first scholars selected from South
Africa to spend their summer working with CASS staff on research projects.
This program is a new collaboration between the two organisations to foster
stronger links between the two countries and provide opportunities for
students to get involved on projects supporting the SKA, ASKAP and MeerKAT,
the South African pathfinder telescope. Tokiso and Katherine will be working alongside the 10 students already in Sydney and Perth for the CSIRO Undergraduate Vacation Scholarship program. All 12 will visit the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) in Narrabri in January for an observing experience.
