Inspecting the 19-beam FAST receiver
by Li Shao (CASS)
The 19-beam receiver for FAST (Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope) is ready for its trip to China. Douglas Hayman (right) from the Engineering & Operations group is explaining its technique advantage to Jing Wang (left) from the Astrophysics group. FAST is the largest single dish radio telescope in the world, just finished construction last year, aiming to provide higher sensitivity for large radio survey in near future. The 19-beam receiver is designed and manufactured by CSIRO and will be one of the key instruments on the telescope.
