Yesterday, September 2nd, marked the 30th anniversary of the
official opening of the Australia Telescope Compact Array at Narrabri.
The Array was opened by the Prime Minister, The Hon. R.J.L. Hawke, MP,
on Friday 2nd September 1988. The annual meeting of the
Astronomical Society of Australia had been held in Narrabri that week,
and so an audience of around 800 locals and astronomers were
present for the big day. More details are given at this
