| Voyager 2 leaves the solar system |
| NASA announced at the American Geophysical Union meeting this week that the Voyager 2, launched in 1977, has left the solar system and entered interstellar space. Voyager 2 is about 18 billion kilometres from Earth and still sending back data that are being recorded at the Parkes radio telescope and the Tidbinbilla tracking station.
