As part of the ongoing development of the long running
PULSE@Parkes
education programme, a new 3-D virtualisation of the iconic CSIRO
Parkes 64m Radio Telescope has been developed, including the Augmented
Reality extension seen here. The PULSE@Parkes programme was
successfully run through CSIRO's ON Prime Entrepreneurship scheme in
2017 to develop it into a broader, higher education programme. The 3-D
visualisation has come courtesy of CSIRO's IM&T Scientific Computing
with specific acknowledgement to Kristina Johnson and Michael Kuiper.
The image above shows, at left, the specially printed piece of paper
sitting on a desktop and, at right, what appears when a phone with
the app installed is aimed at that piece of paper!
