ASKAP at night video (by Alex Cherney) |
The screen shot above is from a time-lapse video made by Alex Cherney of the Australian Square Kilometer Array Pathfinder (ASKAP), with the Milky Way setting in the background. ASKAP is located on the Murchison Radio-Astronomy Observatory, selected as its isolation from towns and cities makes it an ideal "radio-quiet" site. As this image illustrates, the clear dark conditions also result in spectacular views of the night-time sky. |
