50th Anniversary of Apollo 12
November marked the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 12 mission. On the return journey to the Earth, the Apollo 12 astronauts witnessed an eclipse of the Sun by the Earth. They were 48,350 kilometres from Earth watched a thin sliver of sun behind the dark mass of the earth, taking the first photographs of the Earth’s atmosphere backed by the sun. More details are given in Hamish Lindsay's essay on the Apollo 12 mission on the Honeysuckle Creek website.
