Former CSIRO Chief Executive Megan Clark and
Australian businessman Peter Yates
were named last week as the joint 2019 recipients of the
prestigious Australian Academy of Science Medal. The medal recognises
outstanding contributions to science by means other than research. As
the first female chief executive of CSIRO, and the first Head of the
Australian Space Agency Australia, Megan Clark has led innovation in
science nationally and is a trailblazer for women in STEM (Science,
