ASKAP zoom bands
by Chenoa Tremblay
The Australian SKA Pathfinder Array (ASKAP) Early Science and Commissioning (ACES) team has started reviewing the data from the newly available "zoom" modes on ASKAP, which provide higher spectral resolution. Observations were made of a test field in the Galactic Plane with a frequency resolution of 1.1kHz (about 0.2 km/s) at 1.6 GHz. The field contains at least 20 known 1665-MHz OH masers, of which so far 19 have been confirmed within the new ASKAP data. The above spectra of known 1665-MHz OH maser G335.789+0.174 were taken with ASKAP on 5 February 2019 (red) and the ATCA on 28 February 2019 (blue). As can be seen, the spectral structure matches well between the ASKAP and ATCA observations.

As Friday 19th and Monday 22nd April are the Easter public holidays in Australia, the next ADAP will be Tuesday 23rd April.
