The Parkes Observatory held Open Days to commemorate the
50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moonwalk over the
weekend of 20-21 July 2019. Film from the moonwalk
was replayed at exactly the same time that the real
event happened 50 years earlier. This was preceded by
speeches from a number of distinguished guests, including
Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack,
US Ambassador Arthur Culvahouse Jr.,
Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, Karen Andrews,
and CSIRO Chief Executive, Larry Marshall, pictured (at lower right) above.
