At the top of the Dish
One of the questions asked by several of the tour groups during the Parkes Open Day was "What are those things at the top edge of the Dish?" As can be seen in this image, there is an anemometer at the top edge of the Dish, as it is important to automatically stow the Dish to ensure its structural safety if winds get too high. There are also sets of red lights, as required by regulations, on the top edge of the Dish and on top of the focus cabin, to warn aircraft.
