National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about their shared histories, cultures, and achievements. The dates for National Reconciliation Week are 27 May to 3 June, which commemorate two significant milestones — the successful 1967 referendum (which meant that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples would be counted as part of the population and that the Commonwealth would be able to make laws for them) and the High Court Mabo decision (which recognised that Indigenous Australians have proprietary "native title" rights to land). respectively. Previous ADAPs have shown the acknowledgement of tradition owners at the CSIRO Marsfield, Parkes, Geraldton, Narrabri, and Kensington sites: today's ADAP is the equivalent recognition at the Sydney Observatory.
