Keith Bannister was last night awarded the 2021 Malcolm McIntosh Prize
for Physical Scientist of the Year. Keith was recognised for his
pioneering research into fast radio bursts (FRBs) using the ASKAP
radio-telescope, first developing a "fly’s eye" mode to search for
FRBs, and subsequently enhancing ASKAP to pinpoint the precise
location that a burst came from within a galaxy.
A video describing Keith's work, and his acceptance speech (from which the above still is taken)
can be viewed on the Australian Government's Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources website.
