The Newcomb Cleveland Prize is awarded annually by the American Academy for the
Advancement of Science (AAAS) to the authors of the most impactful research paper
published in the journal Science. To
choose the winning study, the selection committee solicits additional
peer reviews of finalist papers and judges them on impact in their
field and wider, interdisciplinary significance.
This year the prize was awarded to
an international team led by Keith Bannister (CSIRO Astronomy & Space Science) for the
paper "A single fast radio burst localized to a massive galaxy at cosmological distance."
This work was described in ADAPs from
July 2nd and
July 4th 2019.
The authors received their award in a virtual ceremony this week during the 187th AAAS Annual Meeting.
