Mopra webcam
After recent rains, the skies cleared up for the weekend's Long Baseline Array observing. The image above, taken with the Mopra skycam, shows the band of the Milky Way, with the constellation Orion visible to the north west. Sirius, the brightest star in the night-time sky, is just north of the zenith, and the Large Magellanic Cloud can be seen about halfway to the horizon just east of due south. (Why is East to the left and West to the right? Because we are looking up into the sky and not down onto a map.)
