CDSCC asteroid tracking |
Last week during the CASS vacation student observing run, some target-of-opportunity observations were made of the asteroid 2020 WU5 during its close approach to earth using the Tidbinbilla--ATCA bistatic radar. For a short period, it was possible to have three Tidbinbilla antennas -- from left to right, the 34m antennas DSS-35 and DSS-34 and the 70m DSS-43 -- transmitting different frequency tones toward the asteroid, with the ATCA receiving the echoes.
