The
CSIRO Space & Astronomy Undergraduate Vacation Scholarship Program 2021/22 is underway.
Over the ten-week program, students carry our a research project under the supervision of CSIRO staff,
and are allocated a dedicated observing slot at the Australia Telescope Compact Array to
gain some hands-on experience in using a National Facility telescope.
This year 14 students are participating, with students based at Kensington (Perth),
Marsfield (Sydney), and the Canberra Deep Space
Communication Complex at Tidbinbilla.
With covid restrictions impacting university exam schedules and travel plans, the students
have been arriving over several weeks -- the image above shows the first to commence at Kensington.
