Well, this stairway may not go quite as far as the one Ella Fitzgerald sang about,
but the stairs to the focus cabin of the Parkes 64m radio-telescope,
Murriyang, do go up and up and up!
The focus cabin is about 55m above the ground when the telescope is parked.
Another of the three feed legs supporting the focus cabin has a small lift
to carry up equipment from the surface of the dish, but the large receiver
packages have to be winched to the focus cabin while the dish is tipped over.
