GASKAP-OH, the Galactic ASKAP Spectral Line Survey studying
the hydroxyl (OH) molecule has obtained promising results
from its first Pilot Survey data.
In just a small portion of the galactic plane, 45 OH masers were detected, more than half of which
were discovered for the first time. Each of these masers highlight the locations where stars are forming
or dying and provide information about these processes.
The image above shows the locations of the detected masers --
with the spectra for two of the newly discovered masers
shown in yesterday's ADAP.
