Artists of the Wajarri Yamatji, traditional owners of the Murchison
Radio-astronomy site, have created a series of paintings that express
some of the researching occurring with the telescopes located there,
in particular, the ASKAP radio telescope. Here we share the first of the series:
Zachriah George, from Badimaya and Wajarri country, was 17 years of
age when he painted this starry emu. He says, "Inside the emu, the
many, many galaxies are represented by dots and stars. The emu is
looking at and looking out into deep space."
