| Filming at Parkes |

ABC TV’s Catalyst team visited the Parkes Observatory recently to film
and interview George Hobbs and Laura Driessen for a documentary
investigating the science of sound. Following a tour of the Parkes
64m radio telescope, Murriyang, in the evening images were projected
onto the surface of
Giyalung Miil, the 12 metre diameter
Parkes Testbed Facility. With temperatures dropping to a chilly 6
degrees, and watched by a flock of somewhat confused ewes and their
lambs, a number of stunning astronomical images were projected onto
the antenna, as illustrated above. The episode will be broadcast as
part of Science Week in August this year.
