Last week, the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC)
hosted a visit from NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and NASA Deputy
Administrator Pamela Melroy. The photo above was taken in front of
the 34m DSS-36 antenna, and shows from left to right: Elanor
Huntington (CSIRO Director, Digitial, National Facilities and
Collections), Kevin Ferguson (Director, CDSCC), Bill Nelson, Pamela
Melroy, Larry Marshall (CSIRO Chief Executive), and Enrico Palermo
(Head of the Australian Space Agency).
While in Australia Bill Nelson and Pam Melroy
also addressed the National Press Club of Australia.
In 1986, Bill Nelson became the
second sitting member of US Congress to fly in space, when he served
as a payload specialist on board the Space Shuttle Columbia.
