ATNF postdocs (from left to right: Tim Shimwell, Ioannis Gonidakis, and Amy Kimball) enjoying a working visit to the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). This powerful radio interferometer consists of six 22-m dishes, together forming a 6-km diameter telescope, and is located just outside the town of Narrabri in northern NSW. Every summer a group of dedicated ATNF vacation students gets to use the ATCA for several short observing projects, supervised by ATNF experts (pictured). The photo was taken in January 2014 during a tour through the pedestal and vertex rooms of an ATCA antenna.
