These two panels show the multi-frequency light curve (top) and corresponding dynamic spectrum (bottom) of an Extreme Scattering Event, detected by the ATCA in 2014, and reported in Science ( Bannister et al. 2016 ). The data comprise 104 spectra obtained over about 1 year with approximately 3 day sampling. With these data, and complementary VLBI data, we were able to rule out a number of ESE models, and compute a 1D cut through the electron column density.
