Today’s image shows CSIRO’s MK3 40-port phased array feed — with its characteristic “rockets” — undergoing testing in the Parkes aperture array test facility. The test facility uses an ASKAP digital backend to measure the response of the new-design phased array feed when illuminating a room temperature load and when illuminating the sky.
