Acamar is a bright star visible from both Australia and China. ACAMAR is also short for Australia-ChinA ConsortiuM for Astrophysical Research , and aims to enhance the common scientific understanding of the universe between Australia and China. The first ACAMAR workshop – “Inaugural Australia-China Workshop on Astrophysics” – was held in Perth 5-7 April 2016. The scientific topics include SKA, Antarctic astronomy and big data. The workshop also discussed a lot about enhancing joint students and postdocs programmes.
