Here two more pictures of my first time in Parkes , August 2011, witnessing a receiver change first hand. In this case the Ku-band (12 – 15 GHz) receiver is being hoisted up to the focus cabin (left picture) to replace the K-band (16 – 26 GHz) receiver. On the right picture the prolific 20-cm (L-band) multibeam receiver is seen sitting on the translator behind the much smaller Ku-band receiver, which is in focus for the scheduled maser observations. The Parkes focus cabin allows for two receivers to be installed simultaneously, which can be moved into focus on a mechanical translator.
