The Roulettes are the Royal Australian Air Force’s aerobatic display team. Established in 1970, the Roulettes are a six aircraft, seven member team which during their displays can fly as low as 80 m, at speeds of up to 460 km/h, and fly as close as three metres apart. Last week the Roulettes were in central NSW, and arranged a fly-by of the Parkes telescope. The telescope is a controlled air space, and the fly-by required special permission to be granted before it went ahead. (Image credit: John Sarkissian)
