The Aperture Array Verification System (AAVS) is the testbed for the SKA consortium, to evaluate equipment and confirm the performance of antennas before the rollout of the full SKA-Low. Located on the Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory site, There have been several AAVS test arrays, as potential antenna designs for SKA-Low have matured, and the image above shows the SKALA-4 antenna design. A previous ADAP has noted the presence of bungarras (also known as the sand monitor or Gould’s monitor) on the MRO site. The image above is from a video about the AAVS produced by ICRAR.
