November marked the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 12 mission. Crewed by Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, and Dick Gordon, Apollo 12 had a scare when the spacecraft and rocket were hit by lightning — twice — in the first minute after launch, temporarily knocking out the control panel indicators.

After reaching the moon, the Lunar Module “Intrepid” separated from the Command Module and is shown above just before beginning its descent to the lunar surface. More details are given in Hamish Lindsay’s essay on the Apollo 12 mission on the Honeysuckle Creek website.
