SKA Construction Commencement Ceremony

December 6, 2022

The SKA Observatory (SKAO) announced the start of on-site construction activity yesterday for both SKA-Low in Australia and SKA-Mid in South Africa. A ceremony was held at the SKA Observatory’s SKA-Low telescope at Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory, and the image above shows SKAO Director General, Phil Diamond, being presented with a traditional digging stick for of the ceremony.
