ABC TV’s Catalyst team visited the Parkes Observatory recently to film and interview George Hobbs and Laura Driessen for a documentary investigating the science of sound. Following a tour of the Parkes 64m radio telescope, Murriyang, in the evening images were projected onto the surface of Giyalung Miil , the 12 metre diameter Parkes Testbed Facility. With temperatures dropping to a chilly 6 degrees, and watched by a flock of somewhat confused ewes and their lambs, a number of stunning astronomical images were projected onto the antenna, as illustrated above. The episode will be broadcast as part of Science Week in August this year. (Image credit: Richard Monk)
As Monday is a public holiday, the next ADAP will appear on Tuesday June 13th.
